I’m el Dub

This is a double sized episode to make up for the drag yesterdays show was. And don’t worry it turned out to be a rubber linkage that was leaking. Nothing to worry about today. I know you was feeling it.

Kyodo:Japan’s biggest banks are racing to adapt to changing business conditions amid a shrinking population and the spread of online banking.

Many have laid out plans to downsize their workforce and massive network of branches.

This is, in part, due to Japan’s rapidly shrinking populace. According to government data, the number of people living in the country peaked at 128.08 million in 2008 and has been on a downward trend since.

With one of the lowest birthrates among advanced economies and a strict immigration policy, the population is projected to fall below 100 million by 2055.

Kyodo:Japanese mayor tells reporter “I’ll kill you” to fend off questions

I like him already.

Takeshi Imamura, the 45-year-old mayor of Nishinomiya in Hyogo Prefecture, made the remark when the reporter from the Yomiuri Shimbun national newspaper approached him at the city hall to confirm his intention not to seek re-election, city officials said.

DailyMail:Beggars CAN’T be choosers: Windsor’s homeless slam council boss who accused them of ‘marching tourists to cashpoints’ and making a ‘life choice’ – and wants them gone before royal wedding

Key point: aggressive to tourists, and the police are going to clean them out.

* Sophie Smith left home at 3am on Boxing Day wearing just shorts and a vest
* 21-year-old was last seen running towards the sea in Gorleston, Norfolk
* After police searches yesterday an army of volunteers scoured nearby areas
* Police now revealed she left a suicide note and parents say they fear the worst

Telegraph:Taxi rapist John Worboys to be released from prison after 10 years

The offences took place between 2002 and 2008.  The case became a high profile item in the U.K. after he was charged of one rape, five sexual assaults, one attempted assault and 12 drugging charges.

The now 60 year-old former stripper was first arrested in July 2007 over an attack on a 19-year-old student.

He was sentenced to eight years and is being paroled now.

Telegraph:Tony Blair accused of being ‘tendentious’ and ‘elitist’ as he says voters could be offered a fresh Brexit referendum

Here it is, a year later than expected, the move to subvert the U.K. again to EU rule under the thumb of German Merkel. It’s coming! Oops. My opinion.

Telegraph:The top-secret US airline that you’re not supposed to know about

Janet, run by the USAF, is just the airline that was created to commute workers to and from Nevada secret sites that are largely difficult to reach. The article is pretentious but it’s a cool bit of trivia.

Otherwise the article is low brow comedy.

Arab news:Outrage in Turkey over ‘child marriage green light’

The Diyanet religious affairs directorate said on Tuesday the minimum age for girls to marry was nine, while for boys it was 12, according to Turkish media including Hurriyet daily quoting the agency’s official website.

The post, which took the form of an explanatory statement on Islamic law, has since been taken down, after a backlash from the opposition and women’s rights groups.

The legal age to get married in Turkey is 18.

In summary, it looks like there is a struggle between two groups to protect children and educate them before plunging them into marriage.

Yahoo: Security flaws put virtually all phones, computers at risk

Project Zero has revealed Wednesday a set of security flaws that they said could let hackers steal sensitive information from nearly every modern computing device containing chips from Intel Corp <INTC.O>, Advanced Micro Devices Inc <AMD.O> and ARM Holdings.

One of the bugs is specific to Intel but another affects laptops, desktop computers, smartphones, tablets and internet servers alike. Intel and ARM insisted that the issue was not a design flaw, but it will require users to download a patch and update their operating system to fix.

Microsoft and Apple have fixes ready to deploy. I assume Ubuntu and other Linux distros do as well. No word yet on how or if this is connected to the IME.

If useful information surfaces, I’ll pass it to you.

I’m El Dub

Bob Parsons hit me up to go fishing. You know that idiot is in the middle of a pond right now on a chunk of ice with a cooler? He says he can’t reach the bank until he runs out of beer.
