TheGuardian:Green-haired turtle that breathes through its genitals added to endangered list
Despite the turtle’s punk appearance – derived from vertical strands of algae that also grow on its body – its docile nature made it historically popular as a pet.
Kyodo:19-yr-old police officer shoots colleague dead in western Japan
Akira Imoto, 41, was found collapsed with bullet wounds to his back and head at around 8:45 p.m. at the police box(a small structure equivalent to a tiny police sub station in the states)in front of JR Kawase Station in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, they said. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police detained the 19-year-old officer who had been on duty with Imoto at around 1:35 a.m. Thursday in the neighboring town of Aisho. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and has admitted to the allegation, police said.
According to investigative sources, the teenage officer confessed to shooting Imoto, who was in charge of training him, because the senior officer “yelled at” him.
Kyodo:Vietnam ranks top for 1st time in No. of expat crimes in Japan
By nationality, police recorded 5,140 crimes committed by Vietnamese, up from 3,177 a year ago and accounting for 30.2 percent of the total. The first spot had been previously occupied by China, which came in second in 2017 with 4,701 criminal cases, according to the National Police Agency data.
RT sheds light on Skripal saga inconsistencies as OPCW releases report
…nations maintain that Skripal was indeed poisoned with Novichok, that story doesn’t exactly add up. “Novichok is supposed to be very toxic, highly toxic… so a small amount should have killed Mr. Skripal for sure,” Olivier Lepick of the Foundation for Strategic Research said.
Even if Skripal managed to somehow miraculously survive an attack from a nerve agent that should have killed him, his symptoms didn’t make any sense, according to the Russian military.
